I have a tendency to bulk up, especially in my legs and arms. Will the Bar Method strengthen my muscles and also keep them trim?

Yes. The Bar Method will trim down your body, especially around the upper legs. During the initial stages of this process however, your muscles will lift up and seem to be fuller. Because muscles are mostly composed of water, yours will absorb water as they become more active.

Heather as a new student had a nicely proportioned body with muscular legs

Then, as your muscles become denser, over a period of three-to-five months, they will also become more compact.

Heather, a Bar Method teacher had a nice, athletic shape already, as she is shown by the photo on the left as a new student in the first stages of gaining strength.

The photo on the right shows her after several years of classes, much trimmed down without dieting.

So if you’re going through the initial strengthening stage have faith! A few more months of classes will compactly knit your muscles around their underlying bones, and the inter-muscular fat will burn away, revealing a new, trimmed down shape.

Heather, after several years of the Bar Method, has gone down two pant sizes without dieting.
